The past year was a time of transition for our Associate Board of Young Professionals. The group celebrated its five-year anniversary in 2021. Unfortunately, that meant saying goodbye to several members of the inaugural Associate Board who stepped down after finishing their terms. The silver lining? Half a dozen people stepped up to join the Associate Board this Summer, an influx of new blood that will keep the group going strong in 2022.
The pandemic had a major impact on Associate Board activities this year. With the Homeless Count cancelled and social distancing measures in place, it was difficult to come together for volunteer and outreach opportunities. But the group still adapted to the situation. The Annual 5K was held virtually for the second year in a row. People across L.A. joined in, helping the event raise nearly $10,000 to support Shelter Partnership. In early December, the group got together – in person! – to attend a Clippers game at Staples Center where Shelter Partnership was honored as Nonprofit of the Night. It was a great way to end the year.
Though it's been a rough year, it was still a productive time. The Associate Board is planning big things for 2022. Stay tuned and stay informed.
